NSW Health data sharing: document AI risks before external release

NSW Health’s new data-sharing directive includes specific safeguards for AI-related external sharing.

External requests involving AI need a documented risk assessment and safeguards. Material changes require review before proceeding.

For a scoped project, retain the approval, assessment, accountable reviewer and evidence. Distinguish research or service-improvement sharing from direct patient care, which is generally outside this directive. The directive is not a new obligation for every Australian healthcare business.
