Digital Duty of Care: prepare for a proposed online-safety framework
The Prime Minister confirmed House passage on 28 October. Readiness work should remain separate from claims of legal compliance.
The Prime Minister’s 29 October transcript confirms that the House passed the proposal the previous day and calls for Senate support. This is not evidence of enactment or commencement.
The government’s introduction materials describe proposed protections for users of services such as games, apps and AI chatbots, with attention to harmful features, minors and complaint processes. Scope must be checked against the eventual legislation; it is not a universal requirement for internal business AI.
NORMIX recommends documenting product features, affected users, foreseeable harms, human escalation and complaint evidence. Record an owner and review trigger for legislative changes. Label this work proposal readiness, not certification.
