Deepfake reform: prohibit non-consensual harmful content
Deepfake reform: prohibit non-consensual harmful content. Federal amendment commenced 3 September 2024. Check coverage for each AI use case.
The federal reform addresses transmission of sexual material without consent, including relevant AI-created or altered material. It should not be summarised as a single prohibition covering every possible synthetic-media activity. Other online-safety and state criminal provisions may also apply.
Use-case investigation: identify image, voice and likeness generation; consent and authorisation; prohibited content controls; reporting and removal routes; and responsible escalation. Preserve the specific source, incident and action evidence without unnecessarily redistributing harmful material.
